Simple future tense

1 _ The use of simple future tense:

We use the Future Simple tense  to describe events that will happen in the future . It is one of the most common ways to express future intentions, predictions, promises, and plans.

For example: I will visit Italy.

  • Predictions:

To talk about something we believe or think will happen in the future.

Example: It will rain the day after tomorrow.

  • Spontaneous Decisions:

To talk about decisions made at the moment of speaking (instant decisions).

Example: I will answer the call.

  • Promises or Offers:

To express a promise, offer, or willingness to do something.

Example: I will help you clean the house next weekend.

  • Future Facts:

When talking about something that will certainly happen in the future.

Example: The sun will rise tomorrow.

  • Plans or Intentions:

Although the "going to" future is more commonly used for plans, the future simple can still express a planned event, especially when the speaker hasn’t yet made the decision.

Example: I will start my new remote job next Wednesday.

  • Requests or Invitations:

Example: Will Rima come to the cinema with us?

2 _ Structure of the Future Simple Tense:

The Future Simple tense is formed using "will" or "shall" (rarely used nowadays, except with "I" and "we" in formal contexts) followed by the base form of the verb.

  • Positive Sentences:

Subject + will + base verb ( The infinitive form of the verb without to ) + the rest of the sentence.

Example:

_ Assia will travel to Paris next week .

_ Mounir will watch the classic with us .

  • Negative Sentences:

Subject + will not (won’t) + base verb ( The infinitive form of the verb without to ) + the rest of the sentence .

Example

_ I will not (won’t) attend such a meeting another time.

_ They will not (won’t) visit us on Monday .

  • Questions:

Will + subject + base verb ( The infinitive form of the verb without to )  + The rest of the sentence + ?

Example : 

_ Will they come to my anniversary party?

_ Will you prepare with me tonight’s dinner ?

Task 1 : Complete the following sentences with verbs conjugated in the future simple .

Task 3 : Write a Future Simple Sentence for Each Situation.

  1. You have decided to take a trip to Russia in the next summer.
  2. Simon believe it will snow tomorrow.
  3. A friend asks if you will help them move to the new house next weekend.
  4. You are sure Real Madrid team will win the game tonight.
  5. You don’t think you can finish the project by this week.

The correction of task 3 :

  1. I will take a trip to Russia in the next summer.
  2. It will snow tomorrow.
  3. Will you help us move to the new house next weekend?
  4. Real Madrid will certainly win the game tonight.
  5. I will not finish the project by this week.

Task 4 : Write a short paragraph (of about 4 to 6 sentences) about your plans for the next holiday season using the Future Simple tense ( affirmative, negative and question form ).

Next Christmas, I will travel to the mountains with my family. We will stay in a cozy cabin and enjoy the snow. I will decorate the tree, and we will have a big Christmas dinner together. We will have a wonderful  family-time. I promise I will take many pictures to remember the holiday. What about you? Will you organize a party?
