Today's lesson is the most important English lessons. It is one of the basics of the language that English learners have to master and understand it well.
Our lesson today about Definite and in definite articles in English and we explain both in detail and review the difference between them as well as their use in the sentence with many examples.

When we use (Definite and indefinite articles )in the sentence?
First – ( Indefinite articles )
First of all, above all,
we need to know that nouns are divided in to Two types either unspecified or
specified. If the noun is unspecified then we use one of indefinite articles (
a –An ) which is used before the single unspecified noun for examples:
- A dress is an
important piece for ladies.
- Salma want to be a doctor when she grows up.
The difference between ( a – an )
Indefinite articles
ranging from ( a – an ) and there is no difference between them in usage but
the only difference between them is:
- ( a) it used when the
first letter in the word is followed by a consonant letter for such as:
A pen A cat
- But we use ( an )
In the sentence when the first letter in the word is followed by a vowel letter
such as:
An apple
Second ( definite articles )
As we mentioned before,
there are specified and unspecified nouns and we know that the unspecified
nouns need indefinite article but the specified noun need definite article (
the ) for examples:
-The suit Ali is
wearing today is very unique.
-The pyramids were built by ancient Egyptian.
( Indefinite and definite articles in plural )
Definite article ( the ) |
Indefinite articles ( a – an ) |
when we talk about a plural specified noun, then we use ( the ) before the noun that is, ( the ) is used in case single and plural noun for examples: -The flowers in my friend's garden were un thriving. -The dogs on the streets are always predatory . |
If we want to talk about the noun of plural indefinitely, it is not right to use one of ( a – an ) that is, we use them only in the noun is single for examples: -dogs are afraid of wolf . -Elephants love playing with people . |
( indefinite and definite articles ) with un countable noun
Definite article ( the ) |
Indefinite articles ( a – an ) |
In case of talking about un countable noun definitely, then we use ( the ) before the noun for example: -The water in the fridge is very
cold . |
In case of talking about un countable noun indefinitely such as ( water ), then we not use ( a – an ) before the noun for example: -Water is hugely useful for the human body. |
And now
after we know ( indefinite and definite
articles in English ) completely and we
reviewed all the information around them with several examples, that we can now
