English is a more auditory language, where the word is read according to hearing rather than writing, there is no rules that can be applied to all English words in terms of pronunciation, where there are many irregular words in English.
But nevertheless, there are reliable rules to help us to pronounce words and letters correctly according to her hearing and not her writing , and that’s what we’re going to explain in our lesson today.

First: We need to know that English letters are divided into Two types:

1- The double vowel words with (ee)
In English there are words with double vowels, and when these vowels are (ee) in the word , the sound is long .
For examples:
Three/ keep /cheese /knee/green /greet /speech /see /street /seed /feed /peep /meet /sneeze /queen /free /need /sheep//week/bee /deep /freeze / cheer/ceek /wheel / leech /sheet /tweet /spree /screen .
2- The double vowels words with ( oo)
- When there are words with double ( oo) in award, the sound is long sucs as :
School /moon / too / boo/cook /hoop /room / book /goose /roof /bloom /wood /look / food/zoo /hook /foot /cook / boot /noon / too/zoom /lampoon /cooper/ saloon / hooper / waterloo /footise.
- When we see (oo) in a ward , we can say (u) as in:
( pool - spoon )
- We can also pronounce (oo) as a shorter sound as in : ( good )
3- Pronounce letters (F and V )
How to spoke (F)?
Set your top teeth on your lower lips, but don’t use your voice , that is your vocal cords don’t move such as :
Frog / fruit /scarf / fan /ferry /life /few / safe /leaf /fine.
How to spoke (V )
Set your top teeth on your lower lip, blow but you use your voice that is , your vocal cords move such as :
Vet / vegetables /leave /van /television / live /very /view/ save / lovely .
4- Pronounce the letters ( W)
(W) is voiced sound, this mean that if you put your hand on your throat, you can feel the vibration on, when you say them.
How to make the (W) sound ?
To pronounce (W), make atight circle with your lips such as:
( Winter - wet - water )
5-There are some letters, when its join each others that have a new pronunciation such as ( th - sh - ch - ph ).
There are also some letters that don't pronounce, if its meet each other such as:
- Letter( H) If met with letter (w )
- Letter (K) if comes after letter (n), and these letters in this case are called silent letters.
