Exclamation method in the English

The methods used in English vary according to the situation used and our lesson today is about one of the most important of these methods, which are used extensively in English which is exclamation method .

In this lesson, we will learn about this method , which consist of and when it is used  with several examples.

Exclamation method in the English

When to uses the exclamation method in the sentence?

We use exclamation method when expressing surprise about a matter or suddenly hearing new and then we can use exclamation mark or full stop at the end of the sentence .

For examples:

  • What a great story!
  • What a beautiful dress you got.

Some phrases used to express exclamation in English:

We need some expressions and words in the exclamation method to express surprise or certain action about  any situation and which is the most important of these expressions:

Really – whoops – ooh – oh – honestly –oh dear – wow – heaven – what – bravo- goodness me –oh my God!

And we will understand their use more in the following examples :

  • Wow! what an expensive motorcycle.
  • Oh dear, what a nice glass you have!
  • Bravo, you got a good degrees in math!
  • Oh heaven, let Jone still be alive.
  • Goodness me! You are so handsome without your hat.

After we have initially learned about the method of exclamation and some words and expressions that express it , Now we will learn how to formulate it in a series way .

How to form an exclamation method?

There is a basic rule for crafting exclamation method using one of the following questioning tools ( How –What ) and we will learn to use each tool separately.

First – Composition of exclamation method using ( what )

What a + adjective + described noun .

For examples:

  • What a beautiful song!
  • What a unique suit!
  • what  a rude teacher!

And it's also an exclamation formula is :

What  a + adjective + described noun + subject + verb .

For examples:

  • what a clever student he is!
  • What a beautiful home you buy!

We need to point out that if the described noun is plural or an un countable noun , we don't put the definite tool ( a ) after what for examples :

  • What lovely eyes you have!
  • What cold weather!

Second – Composition the exclamation method using ( How )

How + adverb + subject + verb !

For examples:

  • How rapidly you work!
  • How fast she run!

Or it is also the formula is:

How with adjective only

As in examples :

  • Oh my God! How amazing.
  • How quick your son is!
